Did you know of Europeade? It is a five day celebration of 5,000 people involved in folk dance and music from 30+ countries in Europe. Since more than 60 years every summer several hundred folk dance and music groups meet for 5 days in a new city in Europe, old friends and new groups together - groups from Finland to Cyprus and from Portugal to Armenia. They show their dances in displays in large arenas and in the streets of the city, and hold a ball, a parade, and an oecumenical service. Groups dance, sing and play their music in traditional costume throughout the city all day and all night! They share their regional culture with the local inhabitants and each other, some of them taking part for and with generations now. Europeans meet Europeans in the sense of friendship and humanity. How better could you bring to life the idea of "thinking universality - living diversity" as a model not just for Europe but for all people around the globe who believe humanity and friendship is the key to harmonious co-exstence of all peoples - an idea that is the fundament to the founding of the United Nations, too.
